Lorebound — Privacy Policy

Lorebound (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a manga and book collection tracker. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your choices. Questions: hello.lorebound@gmail.com.

Using Lorebound without an account

You can use Lorebound as a guest. In guest mode your collection is stored only on your device and is not sent to our servers.

Information we collect (with an account)

• Account details: email address, username, and display name.
• Collection data: the series, volumes, standalone books, groups, wishlist, loans, and any notes you add.
• Social data: friend connections and friend requests.
• Purchase status: whether you have unlocked Lorebound Pro (processed by the app store; we do not receive or store your payment-card details).

We do not collect advertising identifiers, precise location, or contacts.

Camera

The app uses the camera only to scan ISBN barcodes when you choose to scan a book. Camera images are processed on-device and are not stored or transmitted.

How we use your information

• To provide the core service: saving your collection and syncing it across your devices.
• To enable optional social features (friends, sharing) when you use them.
• To operate accounts (sign-in, email verification, support).

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

How your data is stored and shared

• Account and collection data is stored using Supabase (our backend and database provider) on our behalf.
• In-app purchases are processed by Google Play / the Apple App Store (and RevenueCat, our purchase-management provider, once enabled).
• Book metadata lookups: when you search for titles, the app queries public book and manga databases (Open Library, Google Books, Jikan/MyAnimeList, Kitsu, MangaDex, AniList). These requests contain only your search terms — never your account information.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your account data until you delete it. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app:

Deletion is immediate and irreversible, and removes your account, profile, collection, series, wishlist, loans, notes, and friend connections from our servers. You can also email hello.lorebound@gmail.com and we will delete your account on your behalf.

Children

Lorebound is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
